Frankincense is the resin produced by Boswellia, a tree native to the Middle East and Africa. Its scent is woody and slightly spicy. It was considered one of the most prestigious fragrances in Antiquity, more so than gold. Like the Greeks and the Romans, the Ancient Egyptians were great users of frankincense: it came under the gods or the divine. Today, Christianity still perpetuates the use of this incense. Remember that it was one of the 3 gifts, one of which is myrrh,  offered by the Three Kings to Jesus to honor his birth.
